The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have called off the nationwide strike.
TUC Chairman Festus Osifo, announced on Tuesday that the suspension of the strike for five days was to allow for uninterrupted decisions with the tripartite committee regarding the new national minimum wage.
WikkiTimes reports that on Monday, labuor leaders met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and other government officials.
During the meeting, they reached a resolution that the parties would reconvene continuously for one week to finalise on the new minimum wage.
SGF said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to paying a new minimum wage above N60,000 that the labour union earlier rejected.
