Barely four days after members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on the Speaker, Rt Hon Abubakar Sulaiman and other principal officers of the House, police personnel took over the Complex of the Assembly following the invasion of the premises of the Assembly by unidentified hoodlums Monday morning.
WikkiTimes learned that the invaders are bent to scuttle moves by the lawmakers to formally present a new speaker, prompting police to wave in to prevent chaos and wanton destruction of properties at the Assembly Complex.
The invaders were allegedly on a mission to set up the Assembly on fire.
Hon Sani Mohammed Burra, Special Adviser to Bauchi State Governor on State and National Assembly Laison said security personnel mainly comprising the police took “over the place to avoid break of law and order.”
A source at the Assembly who does not want to be identified told our WikkiTimes that the lawmakers have elected a new speaker and other principal officers after passing a vote of no confidence on the speaker and other principal officers of the house last Friday.
