Kaduna Bombing: We Are in Pains, Says Usman-Bauchi, Tijjaniyya Movement leader

A renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Usman-Bauchi, has expressed frustration over the tragic murder of scores of residents of Tundun Biri by the Nigerian Army’s drone bomb attacks in Kaduna State.

Usman-Bauchi, who is the Tijjaniyya Movement leader in Nigeria, pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to probe the incident and ensure payment of compensation to the families of Muslims killed by Nigerian Army’s ‘accidental’ bombing last week Sunday while celebrating Maulud.

The Islamic scholar said, “We are in pains. How the people on air dropped bomb to innocent people. Whose fault is it? Is it the fault of the government or who? The essence of government is to protect lives and property, but not to play with people’s lives. We urge a thorough probe into the tragedy that killed scores of innocent persons.”

Usman-Bauchi, addressing newsmen in Bauchi on Tuesday, added: “We want the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stand firm to ensure justice for the affected people killed while celebrating Maulud and punish the officers that carried out this dastardly act to prevent future occurrences, and uphold the principles of protecting their dignity, protect their fundamental human rights to live, to practice their religion without hindrance and to uphold human rights and international humanitarian law.”

Usman-Bauchi emphasised that conducting a comprehensive inquiry into the unintentional bombing is critical to averting future accidents, citing that similar circumstances had claimed the lives of some innocent Muslims who were killed in the past.
