The Kaduna State Government has ordered the immediate dissolution of all workers’ forums and associations operating within the state’s local government system, citing violations of administrative and regulatory frameworks.
The directive was contained in a letter signed by the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sadiq Mamman Lagos and dated 4 November 2025 and addressed to all Local Government Area (LGA) chairpersons.
According to the letter, the decision followed a comprehensive review by government authorities, which concluded that the continued activities of such forums were no longer aligned with institutional guidelines governing the local government service.
Affected groups include the Forum of Vice Chairmen, Local Government Secretaries’ Forum, and Local Government Legislative Speakers’ Forum, among others.
“The continued operation of such forums is no longer in alignment with established administrative, regulatory, and institutional frameworks governing the Local Government Service,” the letter stated, adding that the measure aims to maintain administrative order, uniformity, and effective service delivery across the system.
All meetings, activities, and operations conducted under the affected groups are to cease immediately, and no employee—whether a career civil servant or political appointee—is permitted to act on behalf of any dissolved association without formal authorisation from the appropriate authority.
The letter further directed that future engagements and welfare matters must be channelled through officially recognised administrative structures.
Local government chairpersons have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance with the directive.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts by the Kaduna State Government to tighten internal controls within local administration structures and streamline communication channels.
