Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano State Governor, has announced the release of N4,828,456,208.67 for education infrastructure including the renovation and construction of classrooms across the state.
In a post via his X account, Governor Yusuf revealed the release of N1,903,315,617.07 to the 44 local government areas of the state for the renovation of classrooms.
He said the funds will be administered through the Community Reorientation Committee under the supervision of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Additionally, the Governor approved N2,925,140,591.60 for the construction of new classrooms in the state. According to the governor, the initiative marks phase one of a broader plan to create new and adequate learning environments for students across Kano.
He said “These approvals are part of our declaration of State of Emergency on Education in Kano State,” emphasising that further approvals and initiatives will be rolled out as part of the efforts to improve educational infrastructure and standards in the state.
Governor Yusuf had earlier this month declared a state of emergency in education in Kano State. He highlighted the urgent need for the declaration due to the decay in both educational quality and infrastructure.
