Kano Govt Bans ‘Queen Primer English’ in Schools, Seizes Over 1000 Copies

Kano State Censorship Board has banned the use of the primary school English Language textbook, ‘The Queen Primer’ in the entire state for promoting gay and other despicable issues to children.

The Board further prohibits selling, distributing or using the book for instructional purposes in schools in Kano.

The Chairman of the Board, Abba El-Mustapha disclosed this to newsmen in Kano shortly after officials of the board seized over 1000 copies of the book.

Recall that a revered Islamic scholar, Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar has drawn the attention of parents, teachers, authorities and other stakeholders to a passage that exposes pupils to issues related to gay and sexuality.

According to El-Mustapha, his board has received numerous complaints from parents and other stakeholders about the book in question that contravenes the religious and cultural sensibilities of the people of the state.

He further warned teachers and schools to completely halt the use of the book for instructional purposes as the board would not hesitate to punish anyone found with the book.
