The Kano State government has put schools’ resumption for all primary and secondary schools across the state on hold.
Umar Haruna Doguwa, the Kano State Commissioner of Education, in a short broadcast, said the earlier scheduled resumption of boarding on Sunday 8th and Monday, 9th July for day students has been postponed immediately.
Doguwa, however, said a new date will be announced in due course.
The Commissioner did not clearly specify the reasons for the postponement. He said some urgent matters were behind the postponement, without further details but argued that it is in the best interests of the students and their parents.
“I am hereby notifying parents and students that the earlier announced dates for schools’ resumption have been postponed with immediate effect.
“We have planned to open boarding schools on Sunday and Monday for day schools but due to urgent matters, we have shifted the resumption to a date that will be announced. However, you are to note that this was done to protect the integrity and respect their dignity”, said Umar.
He appeals for understanding from parents and guardians, adding that new date will be communicated soon.
