Bashir Bashir, the Kano State gubernatorial candidate for Labour Party reportedly dumped his ambition to join All Progressives Congress (APC) over alleged sidelining of the northern bloc by his erstwhile party.
According to reports, Bashir met with Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of APC yesterday evening. Hitherto, he and some Labour Party chieftains in Kano had shunned the party’s presidential rally held some weeks ago, according to Punch.

The other LP members who shunned the rally were Mohammed Zarewa; the state coordinator for Peter Obi’s campaign, Balarabe Wakili; and a member of the presidential campaign council, Idris Dambazau.
His defection was confirmed to Punch by a source close to him. According to the source, his decision was linked to the party’s exclusion of major northern stakeholders in its decision-making process, and lack of clear-cut direction on the interest of northern Nigeria.
