The Police in Kano said they have commenced investigation into the cause of death of a mother and five kids after eating local delicacy, danwake.
Police spokesperson in the state, SP Abdullahi kiyawa confirmed that a widow and her five children have died in Karkari village, Gwarzo Local Government Area.
SP Kiyawa told journalists on Sunday that the family ate the food and later they were rushed to Gwarzo General Hospital where they were confirmed dead by the medical experts.
He said an investigation had commenced to ascertain the cause of their death that left the community traumatised.
“We are still waiting for the medical report from the hospital to ascertain the cause of the death of the six persons,” he said.
The incident reportedly occurred last Thursday after the widow who was the breadwinner of the family used expired cassava flour to prepare the food for them to consume.

The deceased of the Kano tragedy include Alhakatu Abdulkarim and her five children; Bashir, Firdausi, Hafsat, Usman and Jamilu.
