Katagum Forum Begs Bauchi Govt To Host Proposed University of Health In CABS Azare

Katagum Forum has urged Bauchi State Government to use College of Administration and Business Studies, CABS Azare as a temporary site for the newly approved Federal University of Health, Nutrition and Medical Sciences Azare.

The Chairman Katagum Forum Alhaji Aminu Sule made the call when he led other members on a visit to the state Commissioner of Education Dr Aliyu Tilde in his office.

The Chairman said that due to its strategic location and accessibility, the college can be used to kickstart academic activities pending the commencement of work at the permanent site.

He commended Dr Tilde for his giant strides in the last two years called for the sustenance of such policies.

He charged the Commissioner to put more effort towards improving the standard of education especially basic, a situation he described as pathetic in the zone.

Responding, the State Commissioner of Education Dr Aliyu Tilde said the government has been making a silent effort in finding suitable sites for three federal institutions at Jama’are, Misau and Katagum even before a formal request for such was made.

Dr Tilde who expressed concern over the performance of Katagum which occupies the fourth position among the 20 local governments of the state, called on the forum and other stakeholders in the zone to focus on personal contributions to salvage the education system in the area.

He restated commitment to support any input, suggestions towards the realisation of policy and projects aimed at developing the education sector in the state.

On the just-concluded one-week placement examination into boarding schools, the Commissioner said the number of candidates and their overall performance was discouraging.

Meanwhile, the forum also paid a similar visit to the State Commissioner of Lands and Housing over the allocation of a hundred hectares for the take-off of the University.
