The Katsina Community Watch, a local security outfit has arrested a community leader responsible for bailing bandits arrested by security operatives in Matazu village of Malumfashi LGA.
The 45-year-old Wakili of Gora Dan Saka, in Matazu area, Umaru Wakili, said as a community leader he facilitated bailing of several people suspected to be cattle rustlers who were arrested by security operatives for alleged involvement in banditry.
In a confessional video monitored by WikkiTimes, Wakili confessed that he had signed and bailed notable cattle rustlers in his domain including late Uban Daba.
“Leveraging on our position, I facilitated the bailing of people like Alh Tukur Hardo, Yar Kulli Gudu, Musa Dan Gidan Damji and late Uban Daba”.
“Also, I was instrumental in bailing the son of the late Alh Ya’u Badari who was once arrested by the Area Commander for the theft of cows. Also, there is Hamza Bula, even though I’m not the one who bailed him, it may be his ward head (Mai Anguwa) that did it”, he confessed.
Appealing for mercy, the community leader pleaded with authorities to tender mercy on him, saying henceforth, he will not sign to bail anyone of questionable character.
Recall that Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has alleged that there is involvement of government officials and traditional rulers in the banditry which is making it difficult to end banditry in the state.
