Kebbi State Government has announced the approval of N3.34 billion subsidy for 3,344 pilgrims embarking on this year’s Hajj exercise to Saudi Arabia.
This financial assistance is aimed at covering the additional Hajj expenses mandated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), which amount to about N2 million per pilgrim.
The subsidy decision was made during an emergency Executive Council Meeting led by Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Abubakar-Tafida in Birnin Kebbi.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmad, announced that the subsidy reflects Governor Nasir Idris’s commitment to supporting religious practices for the benefit of social peace.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that each pilgrim will receive a portion of the subsidy to ensure their Hajj fees are fully paid on time. Pilgrims are expected to cover any remaining costs, with those completing their payments also receiving an additional N1 million in support from the state government.
WikkiTimes had earlier reported that each intending pilgrim from Nigeria is expected to pay about N8.2 million depending on the location.
