The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Bello M. Sani, has overhauled the security architecture at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Basaura, Jega Local Government Area, to ensure a safe environment for corps members undergoing their mandatory one-year national service.
CP Sani disclosed this during a visit to the camp, where he addressed security personnel stationed within and around the facility. He said the restructuring became necessary to strengthen surveillance and coordination among security agencies working to protect corps members and camp officials.
“You must synergise with other security agencies and operate strictly in clusters. Remain vigilant at all times,” the police chief charged the personnel.
He further urged them to remain focused, diligent, and uncompromising in discharging their duties, stressing that any suspicious individual or group found loitering around the camp should be decisively dealt with. “We have massively deployed armed operatives in and around the camp who will provide 24-hour security,” he said.
To reinforce the new security measures, the Commissioner of Police held a closed-door meeting with the Kebbi State Commissioner for Internal Security, Alhaji Haliru Wasagu; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Colonel Hassan Ribah (rtd); and a Nigerian Army commanding officer.
The NYSC camp, previously located in Dakin Gari village, was relocated to Basaura due to security concerns in the former location.
