Kebbi Pupils Sit On Bare Floor, Take Lessons Under Leaking Roof

The only primary school in Dakin Gari Village, Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State, is in a deplorable situation as pupils take lessons on bare floors under perforated roofing, which often disrupts their studies.

This is despite claims by the Kebbi State government that it has pumped millions of naira into the educational sector. According to Tracka, a public accountability organisation, the pupils, numbering about 400, lack many prerequisites, including instructional materials, even as they sit on the floor.

A residents of Dakin Gari, Gambo Samaila told Tracka he has visited many schools in rural communities, adding they could better be described as zoos where animals are kept.

Samaila belives the rural communities were shortchanged by the government. He, however, accused the Kebbi State government of mismanaging money meant for education.
