Kidnappers of Adamawa Female Journalist Sent to Jail

At least five criminal syndicate have been sentenced to prison for kidnapping Amra Ahmad Diska, an Adamawa-based female journalist who was abducted in 2021.

The journalist, a staffer at Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Yola, was kidnapped in May 2031 and regained her freedom after her family paid N4 million ransom.

Subsequently, police arrested the five suspects in connection to the crime.

The trio of Muhammad Habib Maki (aka Dram), Barde Usman, and Umar Mammanjoda (aka Umar Mbamba) were directly involved in the journalist’s abduction. They bagged life jail term.

A High Court sitting in Yola sentenced passed judgment in their case.

The court, presided over by Justice Danladi Mohammed, also sentenced another kidnapper, Umar Abubakar, to 10 years imprisonment with an option of an N1 million fine. Also, one other convict, Husseini Hamman was sent to 5 years imprisonment without a fine option.

The five convicts and Dogo Chongel Pullori, Dabo, and Bello [still at large], conspired and abducted Ahmadu Njoboli and the journalist from their various homes in Yola South LGA in 2021.

The convicts and three others at large invaded the Ahmad Isa Mbamba’s house at Mbamba in Yola South on the May 4, 2021, and abducted his wife (the journalist).

Four months after, the convicts also abducted Njoboli and kept him for 19 days. They collected N5m ransom before releasing him.
