Labour Strike: Gombe House of Assembly Postpones Commissioner Nominees Screening

Gombe State House of Assembly, yesterday, postponed the screening of commissioner nominees, sent by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

WikkiTimes gathered that the screening exercise was initially slated for Tuesday and Wednesday, without putting into consideration the warning strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over hardship induced by the removal of fuel subsidy.

The list was sent the the house on July 28. According to a press statement signed by the speaker of the house, Abubakar Luggerewo, the 17 commissioner nominees, comprising 15 males and two females, would be screened between September 7 and 8.

“Following the strike action embarked upon by the joint trade unions, Gombe State House of Assembly suspended the screening exercise of the Commissioner nominees till Thursday 7 and Friday 8 September, 2023,” he stated.

Six of the nominees had served in Inuwa’s first term.
