Citizens of Pali constituency in Alkalerilocal government area and that of Lere/Bula in Tafawa Balewa local government area
have identified portable drinking, access to quality healthcare services, poorroad networks, dilapidated structures in schools as well as lack of unqualifiedteachers as some of the major factors that led to increase in rural to urbanmigration.They stated this during a townhall meeting organized by International Republican Institute held recently intheir LGAs.
The meeting which provided platformsfor interaction and feedbacks between constituents and their elected legislatorschallenged the lawmakers to help address the problems affecting their subjects.
The citizens also asked thelegislators to enact a law that will make girl child education compulsory forall as well as another law to address inadequate teaching and learningmaterials, dilapidated educational infrastructure, poor school basedmonitoring/supervision, inadequate and poorly equipped health facilities, lackof access roads, poor WASH related community sensitization activities amongothers.
Narrating his score card, themember representing Pali constituency in the state Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Bakosaid, he has constructed health centers, dug wells, drilled eight boreholes,provided drugs in various health centers within his constituency since electedinto power.
His colleague, member representingLere/Bula constituency, Hon. Mohammed Musa Lumo said, he has provided freedrugs to all health centers in his constituency, refurbished 13 boreholes inaddition to an ongoing construction of culverts since elected.
