Between January to date, the outbreak of Lassa Fever in the country has claimed 132 lives of Nigerians as 23 states of the federation reported cases of the dreaded virus.
Over a period spanning four months, Nigeria saw 3,746 suspected Lassa Fever cases while 691 cases have been confirmed.
Mr Olornnimbe Mamora, State Minister for Health said this in Abuja during the fortnight COVID-19 update of the ministry.
he said that the fatality rate of Lassa fever in Nigeria shoot up to 19.1 percent.
Lassa Fever is an acute viral hemorrhagic illness induced by Lassa Virus. Human beings contract the virus when exposed to food items and other household items contaminated with the urine or faeces of an infected Mastomys Rat.
