Mr Ahmed Apatira, Chairman of Itire/Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), says the All Progressive Congress (APC) will clinch victory in the ongoing elections into Local Government Councils in Lagos State.
Apatira expressed the optimism after casting his vote at Ward 11, Polling Unit 004.
“There is orderliness and the exercise appears free and fair. Victory is for APC all through Lagos State,” Apatira told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Mr Hakeem Gbamgbala, Vice Chairman, APC, Lagos State chapter, spoke in the same vein.
“I am impressed with the activities of the LASIEC officials. I am impressed with the conduct of the elections. The exercise is smooth,” he told NAN.
Gbamgbala said that the exercise was peaceful and well coordinated.
“Security has been very good and it will continue that way.
“We do not envisage any problem throughout the elections today,” he said.
NAN reports that the turnout for the exercise, which started around 9.35 a.m., has not been particularly impressive with some Lagos voters claiming they were not aware of the activity.
NAN also reports that the exercise started late in many polling units.
An electoral officer at the polling unit, Mrs Zainab Amzat, blamed that lateness on the late arrival of election materials from LASIEC. (NAN)
