Lightening Forces Jigawa Pilgrims to Land at Kano Airport

Shortly after its take off from Dutse International Airport, Jigawa State, a Boeing 747 aircraft belonging to Max Air had an emergency landing at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Wednesday evening.

The plane with registration number Max B747-HMM, left Dutse with 559 persons onboard including intending pilgrims and the crew heading to Saudi Arabia for the 2023 Hajj exercise. It, however, discontinued its journey after it was affected by lightening.

Some passengers onboard told journalists in Kano that the plane had to suspend the journey to the Holy Land after it was struck by lightening which was subsequently followed by rain.

According to them, the experience was frightening that they are now in difficult situation due to the latest development on their pilgrimage journey.

An official of Max Airline in Kano, Bello Ramadan, confirmed the development, revealing further that arrangement was being made to transfer the intending pilgrims alongside the crew to another aircraft to continue with the journey.
