Malaria: Nasarawa Govt. Tasks Citizens On Clean Environment, Use Of Mosquito Nets

The Nasarawa State Government has urged its citizens to always keep their environment clean and continue using mosquito nets in order to avoid being infected with malaria and other diseases.

The Director of Public Health, Ministry of Health, Dr Ibrahim Adamu-Alhassan, made the call on Tuesday when led other health experts in the ministry on an advocacy visit to the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Mr Usman Shafa (APC-Toto/Gadabuke) in Lafia.

Adamu-Alhassan said that the visit was to seek the support of the committee in its quest to tackle cases of malaria in the state.

He said that if the people of the state could continue to keep their environment clean, it would go a long way in tackling malaria and improving their health and general living standard.

According to him, a healthy nation is a wealthy nation, hence the need for the advice.

The director also disclosed that the ministry would distribute 1.6 million mosquito nets and drugs to residents, as part of efforts to tackle malaria disease in the state.

“We are here to solicit for your support towards tackling malaria in the state,” Adamu-Alhassan.

Also speaking, two members of the committee, Alhaji Suleiman Yakubu Azara (APC-Awe South) and Mr David Maiyaki (PDP-Karu/ Gitata), stressed the need for residents to always keep their environment clean to prevent malaria and other diseases.

Responding, Shafa commended the officials for the visit, assuring of the assembly’s readiness to support the state government’s health policies and programmes, especially those targetted at eradicating malaria and other diseases.
