Meshach Isinugo, a suspected Abuja car thief who zoomed off with the N55 million Mercedes Benz two weeks ago in Abuja has been arrested by police in Delta State.
However, he denied absconding with the car. The Delta-born suspect also known as Big Shark, zoomed off with the car on June 30 while test-running it, according to our previous report.
Mohammed Manga, the dealer told WikiTimes that his friend brought the suspect, earlier identified as Henry. He would raise alarm on Twitter after the suspect drove away with the car.
Manga said his friend was with the suspect while he was test-driving the vehicle, adding that he zoomed off when his friend stepped down to withdraw money from a Point of Sale (POS) operator for fuel purchase at a filling station.
SUSPECT DENIES STEALING
Narrating how the incident took place, the suspect insisted he never stole the car. He admitted to driving the car from Abuja to Delta.
“When we got to a filling station, he asked me to pull over as he needed to buy fuel for the car. He told me to wait so that he would go and get some cash to buy the fuel,” he claimed. “I waited for his return for three hours but he was nowhere to be found, and I was already causing a queue at the filling station. I called his line several times but it was switched off. It was already dusk so I drove to my residence at almost 8 pm. My phone had gone flat then, so I charged it when I got home and called him again. His line was switched off.”

The suspect stated that seeing his pictures online was surprising to him after he left for Delta State for a business engagement. He added that the incident made him switch off his phone.
“The following day, I drove down to Delta for a business. That same day, I saw my picture that he posted on the internet, calling me a car thief. His call also came in and he told me he had informed the police and they were tracking the car. This made me to be mad at him. It was crazy. I switched off my line known to him and started using my other line,” he narrated.
The Commissioner of Police in Delta, Wale Abass, Stated who confirmed the arrest said a distress call was received from a car dealer in Abuja on July 3 who noted that the intended buyer absconded with the car on June 30.
