Marauding Bandits Kill Five, Abduct District Head in Kano

Armed bandits, in a coordinated attack on Karfi and Unguwar Tudun Makama communities under Takai Local Government Area of Kano State, have killed five people and abducted Abdulhayatu Ilu, the district head of Karfi, WikkiTimes can report.

A family source (name withheld) said the terrorists stormed Karfi village around 11:42 pm, killing one person before making away with the monarch.

Unfortunately, four people from Unguwar Tudun Makama, also lost their lives while trying to repel the attack on their neighbouring community (Kurfi). In addition, three other persons sustained injuries at the scene.

Although police officers responded to the attack, their intervention was not timely, a discrete source told WikkiTimes.

“We have not heard from them (kidnappers) yet, but we are hoping that they will call so that we know what they are after,” the monarch’s family member who spoke with WikkiTimes, said.

He added that efforts are ongoing to identify the gunmen but their whereabouts cannot be ascertained yet. 

Abdullahi Haduna Kiyawa, the Kano police spokesman, did not respond to calls. At press time, he had not responded to an Inquiry sent to him. 

Karfi Community shares a border with Agwarmaje Community in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where bandits’ attacks headlined newspapers the previous week.
