Mechanic, Farmer Jailed 2 Years for Burglary, theft

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced Abba Ahamed 23, a mechanic, and Timothy Sunday 27, a farmer to 2 years in prison for breaking into a house and stealing.

The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convicts after they pleaded guilty to the charge.

Bokkos in his judgment, ordered the convicts to pay an option of N100,000 fine each or spend two years in prison.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the case was reported on Aug.19 at the “A” Division Police station by one Ciname Deame, the house caretaker.

Thiawur said that the convicts trespassed into the house and broke in and stole items including Flat screen television, sets of pots, aluminium window frame, bedspread, gas cooker, gas cylinder head, traveling bag and jewelleries.

The police said that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law. (NAN)
