Medical Association Offers Free Medical Services To 1, 000 People In Bauchi

About 1, 000 people in Duguri village, Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi receive free medical services from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Bauchi state chapter on Thursday.

The outreach according to the association was part of activities marking the 2020 physicians’ week in the state.

Dr Adamu Sambo, Chairman of the association during the flag off ceremony of the outreach in Bauchi said the association will conduct tests on malaria, blood pressure, sugar, hepatitis, general consultation and health education on burning health issues affecting the people of their targeted villages.

Dr Sambo opined that as medical doctors, they were inspired by their corporate social responsibilities, one of which was to offer free medical services to the poor and vulnerable people.

He said the association will donate drugs to some patients and prescribe to others where such drugs were not within their reach.

The village head of Duguri Alhaji Ibrahim Y. Baba who was represented by Malam Idris Yunusa thanked the doctors for the gesture, arguing that their effort has brought succor to the poor people in the area.

The village head appealed to the government and other non-governmental organizations to also carry out similar exercises in the area, which he says will help address the enormous health challenges faced by his people.
