No fewer than 17 people including infants and children sustained injuries as a result of a midnight downpour in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, according to a government official.
Mohammed Goje, the Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), disclosed this to pressmen on Sunday morning.

According to him, the incident which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, led to flooding that washed away four buildings within Yobe metropolis.
Six aduclts including seven children and four infants were trapped in the buildings washed off by the flooding. The affected building, according to Goje are on White House and Ali Marami areas of the state.

Goje explained that with the support of volunteers, YOSEMA was able to evacuate all the 17 victims from the affected areas, stating that the injured victims are currently on admission and receiving medical treatment at the Yobe State Specialist Hospital.
