Misau community will provide 100 hectares of land to host proposed FCE—says convener

The convener of Movement for the Actualization of Federal College of Education (FCE) Misau, Alhaji Mohammed Kaka Misau has hinted that the benefiting communities are prepared to in collaboration with the Bauchi state government, provide about 100 hectares of land for the construction of the College.

Alhaji Misau who stated this yesterday while speaking in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi noted that the Local Government has everything it takes to host the institution.

Misau said; “I think for a start, Government Science Secondary School Misau should be used on temporary period pending when the permanent site of the institution would be build.”

According to him, the secondary school with a total number of forty five staff houses, over twenty class rooms, adequate examination halls, eight well-equipped hostels recently renovated by NNPC is enough for a start.

“The secondary school has a standard Information and Communication Technology centre (ICT) in addition to a well equipped and functional library for students to do their research,” Misau added.

Asides that, the convener asserted that the secondary school where the institution can be sited on temporary bases is equipped with modern power generating set, water reservoir, mechanized and solar powered water supply system for both the on and off-campus students.

The Convener assured that if the institution eventually takes off, the students will not be faced with accommodation challenges as affordable houses for those in off-campus is readily available.

According to him, the Emirate council has worthy and highly educated sons and daughters that can even volunteer to teach in the institution as soon as it commences.

Misau who recalled that former senator Hamma Misau worked hard to secure the institution for the area appealed to the relevant authorities to hasten the implementation of what has already become a law.

The Convener who said that the contribution of Minister of education, Malam Adamu Adamu will never be forgotten also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for allocating the federal college to Bauchi state, particularly Misau Local Government Area.

He urged stakeholders in the area to put heads together to see to the actualization of the federal college in Misau.

It would be recalled that a bill sponsored by former Senator Isah Hamma Misau with number SB. 604 seeking the establishment of Federal College of Education, Misau,  Bauchi state.

Alhaji Kaka noted that the bill had after undergoing public hearing and other legislative processes under the then Chairman, Senate committee on tertiary institutions and TETFund, Senator Barau Jibrin, passed into law.
