Mother Arraigned For Defrauding Would Be Groom Of N10m In Kaduna

A mother of two, Fatima Sanusi, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Barnawa, Kaduna State for defrauding her would-be-groom of N10million 10 days to their wedding.

The suspect, our correspondent gathered, was to get married to the complainant, Umar Oruma, when she backed out 10 days to their wedding.

Daily Trust reports that all arrangements had been concluded for the marriage before the defendant changed her mind and instead, married the father of her children.

The application for issuance of criminal summons said, “The complainant and the defendant started dating in July, 2020 and after a long courtship, the complainant proposed to the defendant in January, 2021 which the defendant accepted.

“Based on the defendant’s acceptance to marry the complainant, the defendant started collecting money from the complainant with the belief that all her responsibilities and that of her children and parents are to be catered by the complainant.

“From the day you promised to marry the complaint, he has expended N6.7million on you which you are aware of and he has expended nothing less than N3.2million in preparation for the wedding.”

The court admitted her to N500,00 bail with two sureties in like sum.

One of them must be a relation of the defendant working with a relevant organsation and the other a neighbour.
