MSSN B-Zone Condemns Burning of Fulani Settlements In Southwest, Says ‘No Tribe has Monopoly of Violence’

Zone-B of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN, has knocked down the razing of abodes of Fulani people leaving in the Southwest by ‘Freedom Fighters.’

MSSN B-Zone in a statement on Saturday signed by its Zonal Coordinator, Qaseem Odedeji, said it received with awe shock the news of the destruction of legitimate buildings of Fulani herdsmen in Igangan community of Oyo State for allegedly being responsible for the frequent kidnapping, armed robbery and other forms of breaches currently being recorded in the Southwest.

Mr Adedeji said the allegations levelled against Fulanis living in Yoruba land which inform the issuance of the 7-day quit notice,  cannot be substantiated.

“No single group has a monopoly of violence and as such, eradicating a whole clan from a community should never be seen as a lasting solution to farm invasion, kidnapping and murder experienced in Igangan.

“This condemnable act does not represent the interest of the Yoruba people and the action of Mr Sunday Adeyemo Igboho and his followers must be curbed outrightly,” the statement read in part.

The statement described the decision to evacuate Fulani herdsmen from the seven Southern States as “direct confrontation against the continued existence of the Nigerian State, a criminal act of arson and a state of lawlessness which should not be condoned but condemned in its totality.”

The Coordinator called on all security agencies to provide adequate security for the lives and properties of all Nigerians wherever they choose to reside to enable people to go about their normal businesses without fear or tension.
