National Para Sports: Team Bauchi Claims Two Golds, Five Bronzes

Bauchi team at the ongoing maiden edition of the National Para-Sports festival has so far won two Gold medals in para-rowing and 200 metres para- athletic respectively.

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Adamu Manu Soro who disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists, noted that the contingents have also secured five bronzes in various competitions.

The Commissioner congratulated the athletes for their successes and outstanding performance in the ongoing tournament and assured of improved welfare during and after the tournament.

“On behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, let me congratulate our team for the success being recorded in the ongoing National Para-Sports Festival, to secure golds is not an easy task. This is an indication that our team are working towards justifying the huge investment made by the Governor for them to participate in the national sports festival.”

On his part, the Director of Bauchi State Sports Council, Lawal Garba noted that the state has qualified for the final and semi-final stages in other events as a result of their current performances.

Garba expressed satisfaction with the performance of the state contingents with the hope of winning more medals before the end of the competition and attributed the current victory to the hard work and determination of both team and individuals athletes which were informed by the demonstration of the state government’s commitment towards ensuring their welfare.

” As you can see, some of our individuals and team events have qualified to final and semi-finals which means more golds are expected and I believe we have the capacity to deliver. And we must thank our Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Adamu Manu for encouraging both the athletes and technical officials.”
