The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated farm implements to boost Gombe’s Agricultural sector for food security in the state.
The Gombe state commissioner of agriculture, Mr. Barnabas Danmalle, has commended the NEDC Gombe office for its tireless efforts in improving the lives of citizens in the state.
Mr. Danmalle made the commendation while receiving the agricultural implements donated by the NEDC on behalf of the Gombe state government to boost farming in the state.
“This donation is not just a gift; it is a vital investment in the future of agriculture in Gombe State. By providing these implements, the North East Development Commission is empowering our farmers to increase their productivity and sustainability,” he said.
Mr. Danmalle added that the donation came at a crucial time when farmers are facing various challenges, including fluctuating farming conditions and they will help in providing food security while helping farmers to overcome obstacles in their agricultural activities.
“We are grateful for this collaboration, which reflects a shared commitment to improving food security and the livelihoods of our farming communities,” he added.
Speaking shortly after handed over the farm implements, the acting NEDC Coordinator in Gombe state Alhaji Rufa’i Lawan Baba Manu explained that the commission’s support for the agricultural sector highlights their commitment to promoting sustainable development and economic growth in the state.
“The donation of farm implements to Gombe state government is aimed at bolstering agricultural productivity in the region” he said.
He further said that the NEDC will continue to partner with the state ministry of agriculture in supporting local farmers and empowering them to contribute to food security and economic stability.
Items donated include xix units of rice mill machine, two units of rice polisher, two units of oil press machines.
Others are, fifteen units of walking tractor, twenty-five units of trailer, fifteen units of rotary tiller, and four of white and wheat planter among others.
