Despite several appeals to the government to repair the damaged portion of Mangari By-pass in Misau town, Bauchi State, the road keeps deteriorating as the residents envisioned no hope in sight.
Speaking to WikkiTimes, some residents explained that the road has been neglected for over a year. This is despite its importance to rural dwellers.
One of the residents who pleaded anonymity said the community is in despair as flood constantly ravaged households.
“We have been complaining about the situation since last year but nothing was done,” he said. “Initially it was one portion that was damaged but now it is two. Our houses are at risk of being washed away by flood”.
“Whenever it rains and you are not at home, you don’t have peace of mind because of the nature of the bypass. Now motorcycles and cars can not pass this road, even those who trek are afraid. This ever-busy road has now been deserted,” he added.
When WikkiTimes visited the area, our reporter captured a scene where water was flowing through the damaged portion of the road to the other side linking to nearby farmlands.
