NEMA Donates Relief Materials To Bauchi Flood Victims

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disbursed food and non-food relief materials to the victims of flooding in Bauchi State. 

The Director General of NEMA, Abdullahi Adamu who presented the items to the Bauchi State Government for onward distribution deserved beneficiaries said vulnerable members of the population of the state ought to be considered while disbursing the items. 

He commended Bauchi State for its timely response to the flood disaster in the state, saying the relief materials would complement the efforts of the state to ameliorate the suffering of the victims.

The Director General appealed to the state government to ensure judicious distribution of the relief materials to the flood victims and vulnerable groups in the state.

Responding, Governor Mohammed,  who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, thanked the federal government for the gesture.

The governor however called on the federal government and donor agencies to bring more support for the people of the state in view of the magnitude and devastation by the recent flood in the state.

WikkiTimes recalls that the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) about a week ago donated 5,000 bags of rice and 5000 blankets to victims of flood disasters in Bauchi. The Commission also donated 5000 mats, 5000 pieces of women rappers and 3000 pieces of men’s textiles to ameliorate the sufferings of the victims of various scenes of flood disasters across the state.
