HACI chairman, Caleb Auta, said a team of specialized healthcare professionals from NOFIC carried out the screening while HACI undertook an awareness campaign to educate the public about the disease as part of this year’s World Hepatitis Day which is commemorated July 28.

Mr Auta explained that the prevalence of the disease and the lack of awareness among the affected population necessitated the intervention in the area.

“We have tested and provided treatment for 200 people, and we plan to expand this effort to Warji Local Government Area and other major towns within Ningi Local Government Area,” Auta stated.

Auta expressed gratitude to key supporters, including Bauchi State Commissioner for Justice, Hassan El-Yakub SAN; Chief of Staff to the Bauchi State Governor, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu; the Director of Health for Ningi Local Government; and the National Obstetric Fistula Centre in Ningi, for their substantial contributions to the success of the campaign.
