The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has inaugurated an eight-man judicial commission of enquiry to investigate the recent killings in Maza-Kuka, Adogon Malam Kulho and other communities in Mashegu Local Government Area of the state. The committee is to be chaired by Justice Danladi Ahmad,Dailytrust reports.
The governor said the incessant killings in some communities in the state were partly due to “the inability of the government to adequately punish those flagrantly taking laws into their hands.
“We must be able to do the right thing. Those taking laws into their hands must be seen to face justice in order to prevent others from executing similar senseless acts and ensure that they don’t occur again in future.”
The governor tasked the commission to exercise justice and fairness and do a thorough investigation, stressing that those found guilty should be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
