Nigerians particularly on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) have continued to shower praises on the Nigerian soldiers for their efforts in saving lives at the peak of Maiduguri flood.
In the face of devastating flood in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, two Nigerian soldiers have emerged as heroes, earning widespread praise on social media for their brave efforts in saving numerous lives.
The flooding, which affected several parts of the state, left many residents stranded and in desperate need of rescue.
Twitter user Jaybiiaii, commended Captain Ibrahim Mohammed of the Nigerian Army for his tireless dedication to saving trapped residents. According to Jaybiiaii, Captain Mohammed has rescued over 100 people since the flooding began.
The user described him as “resilient to the cause,” noting that the officer continues to press forward, extending his efforts to the worst-hit areas, including Muna.
Similarly, Zogazola commended the captain for his heroism, writing, “This military officer deserves immense appreciation for his heroic actions in saving lives during the recent flood in Maiduguri. His bravery and selflessness in the face of danger reflect true dedication to his duty and to humanity.”
Another soldier, identified as KC Uwaezuoke, also played a crucial role in the rescue operations. Twitter user M. Muslim highlighted his significant contribution in saving lives, expressing appreciation for his courage and the efforts of the Nigerian Army. “Kudos to him and the Nigerian Army for a job well done,” the tweet read.
As the situation in Maiduguri continues to improve, social media users suggest that their selfless efforts not only showcased the dedication of some of the Nigerian Army in times of crisis but also serves as a reminder of the enduring human spirit in the face of adversity.
At least 30 people have so far confirmed dead more than one million affected by a flood that struck Maiduguri on Tuesday.
The flood, described as one of the most devastating in the last 30 years, has left many residents displaced and struggling to cope with its aftermath.
