The 8th edition of the National Youth Games kicks off Thursday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, with a focus on fair play and age adherence.
The games, which bring together young athletes who are basically under the 15 age bracket from across the country, aim to discover and develop talents for Nigeria’s future sporting success.
Minister of Sports John Enoh has emphasized the importance of adhering to age requirements to ensure a level playing field for all participants which is very important.
The opening ceremony hosts guests from across the country with athletes, coaches, technical and team officials.
The event has over 5,000 athletes who are set to compete from 29 states and participate in various sporting competitions.
The 8th National Youth Games will last until on 20th of September 2024 with a strong emphasis on fair play.
Minister of sport and Delta State governor are expected to grace the event.
Young Nigerians will showcase their sporting ability which will open opportunity for all participants to carve a niche for themselves.
