NNPCL, FIRS, Lagos, JAMB, Join Other Partners for 8th GOCOP 2024 Conference

The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has announced other high-profile partners for its 8th annual conference scheduled for October 3, 2024, in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

The latest organizations joining the 2024 conference with GOCOP are the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Delta and Lagos State Governments, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and T-Pumpy Concept Limited.

According to a statement issued by GOCOP’s Publicity Secretary, Sir Remmy Nweke, and confirmed by the chairman of the 2024 Conference Planning Committee, Danlami Nmodu, these partners will be key supporters of the prestigious event.

Nweke noted that earlier partners include the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Emadeb Group, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Dangote Group among others which signals strong backing from both the public and private sectors.

He added that the conference, themed “Nigeria: Tackling Insecurity, Power Deficit, and Transitioning to Digital Economy,” will take place at the Reverton Hotel, GRA Lokoja, with former Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, delivering the lead keynote address.

In addition to the main conference on Thursday the 3rd, Nmodu disclosed that the business luncheon with GOCOP partners, set for the day prior on October 2, is a key highlight of the event.

According to the statement, the conference will be chaired by former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman, and will feature prominent guest speakers, including retired Lt-General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, and Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). Panelists include Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, Professor of Political Science at the Federal University Lokoja, and veteran broadcaster Ms. Debrah M. Ogazuma.

Nmodu expressed excitement over the continuous growth of the GOCOP conference, recalling the success of the 2023 edition, which was chaired by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar and Chief Executive, with the keynote delivered by Nigeria’s first Professor of Capital Market, Prof. Uchenna Joseph Uwaleke.

Established to promote the upholding of journalism ethics among online publishers, GOCOP’s annual conference has featured other notable speakers over the years.

In 2019, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto spoke on “Economy, Security and National Development: The Way Forward.”

In 2021, Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, delivered an address on “Post-COVID-19 Pandemic: Recovery and Reconstruction in Nigeria.”

In 2022, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, keynoted the event, focusing on “2023 Elections: Managing the Process for Credible Outcomes.”
