Northern governors’ forum condoles with Plateau government over recent killings

Northern Governors forum (NGF), on Saturday stormed Jos, the Plateau state capital to sympathize with the government and people of the state over recent attack that led to the death of many people with others having severe injuries.

According to a press statement issued to newsmen by the Senior Special Assistant to the Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, explained that the NGF were represented by the governors of Kebbi, Jigawa and Bauchi States, Atiku Bagudu , Mohammed Badaru and Bala Mohammed respectively.

“Some members of the Nigeria Governors Forum ( NGF ) were today in Jos to condoled and sympathize with the government and people of Plateau State over the recent unfortunate developments in the State where many people loss their life’s and others severely injured”, the statement read in part.

Speaking during the condolence visit, Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu said that the visit was to support the security measures so far taken by Governor Lalong to avert the recurrence of such incident in the state.

Bagudu who led the delegation said, governor Lalong being the chairman of the forum would be supported by the forum to ensure the maintenance of peace and security in Plateau state.

He called on the people of Plateau state to exhibit mutual understanding among themselves regardless of their differences to ensure the development of the state.

The statement further stated that governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state was accompanied by top Party and government officials that include the State Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Hamza koshe Akuyam, Member of the House of representatives, representing Bauchi Central, Alh Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi, among others.

The NGF condemned the attack that resulted to the recent killings of some innocent people in Plateau State, declaring that the action was barbaric and should be condemned by all.

It would be recalled that unknown gunmen last week Sunday allegedly killed 13 people in Kwatas community of Bokkos local government area of Plateau State.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong had while confirming the attack said it was another attempt by criminals who do not mean well for the state to take it back to the dark days of insecurity that it has substantially overcome.

The Plateau Governor was reported to have while commiserating with the victims and families of those killed, directed security agents to go after the killers and ensure their arrest and prosecution, saying that the state would no longer tolerate the wanton loss of lives.
