The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier League season is set to return on the 31st of August, 2024 with an opening match between the defending champions Rangers International of Enugu hosting President Federation Cup Champions, El kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri who were among the newly promoted teams to the league.
This season features 20 teams as usual, including defending champions Rangers International and many top contenders
Having clubs appearing for the new campaign with new faces, new tactics, new approaches and revealing their secrets from preseason.
The NPFL chairmanGbenga Elegbeleye said the league would also have a calendar of 20 clubs playing 38 matches.
“I can confidently tell you that the 2024/25 season will be a full format and not an abridged one,” said the chairman said.
During the Annual General Meetings (AGM) the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau warned the NPFL to shun away from usual practice of rescheduling marches as he said there should be no such things again
He also said that the federation intends to make the league more structured by discouraging Nigerian players from joining other clubs across some African leagues that lack established football pedigree in Tanzania, Gabon, Benin Republic, and Togo among others.
The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier League season promises to be an exciting and unpredictable ride, with many teams vying for the top spot.
