Hosts Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi on Sunday beat Lobi Stars of Makurdi 1-0 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in the ongoing 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Match Day 29 fixture was battle-like for both sides, going by their respective positions on the league’s table.
Idris Guda, who captained the Wikki Tourists side, scored the lone goal through a penalty kick in the 34th minute of the match.
Abdallah Bura, the head coach of Wikki Tourists, in a post-match interview appreciated God for the victory.
He said he was happy with his players who performed wonderfully, especially in defending their lead.
“Lobi Stars are very strong and it was quite difficult taking chances against them. But I need to commend my players for their efforts which earned them the three points,” Bura said.
On his part, Kabiru Dogo, The head coach of Lobi Stars, also acknowledged that Wikki Tourists were strong.
“They got the goal needed for the victory and protected their three points thereafter, which was normal.
“My boys made good efforts but yet they could not get a draw, although we had to travel all night and there was the element of fatigue in them,” he said (NAN)
