State Commandant Sani Mustapha revealed the news during a press briefing in Gusau on Saturday.

On Friday, Police paraded 17 suspected bandit collaborators, including Sarkin-Tasha.

Mustapha expressed shock over the arrest, stating that preliminary findings indicate Sarkin-Tasha was apprehended at a checkpoint between the Damba and Sabon Gida axes while traveling to his hometown of Mada in the Gusau Local Government Area.

He was allegedly found in possession of substances suspected to be cannabis and other hard drugs, along with three G3 rifles and an anti-rocket launcher.

“The Commandant-General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Audi, was equally taken aback by the news and has condemned the officer’s alleged reprehensible behavior.

“He has directed me to take immediate administrative actions, including the officer’s dismissal from the Corps’ records,” Mustapha said.

The Commandant emphasized the NSCDC’s commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline, corruption, and any behavior unbecoming of a Corps officer.

He clarified that the actions of the dismissed officer reflect only his individual conduct and do not represent the values of the Zamfara Command or the Corps as a whole.

In a bid to ensure inter-agency cooperation, Mustapha plans to coordinate with the Commissioner of Police for further actions regarding the officer’s transfer to the Corps’ national headquarters in Abuja for internal disciplinary measures and potential prosecution.

He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s dedication to collaborating with other security agencies in the fight against crime in the state, stating that the Corps will take decisive action against any officer, regardless of rank, who engages in misconduct.

Mustapha pledged to pursue the case with complete transparency, emphasizing that the Corps does not tolerate indiscipline, banditry, or terrorism. He assured the press and the public that updates on the situation would be provided as they arise.
