NUBASS National President Booted Out Of Office On Allegations Of Financial Racketeering, Abuse Of Office

Comrade Abdulrahman Shuaibu, National President of Bauchi State students and Comrade, Salim Yakubu, its financial secretary have been removed from office on allegations of corruption and financial misappropriation.

The Vice President of the union Comrade Sagir Haruna has been sworn in as a substantive President following the removal of Mr. Shuaibu.

Shuaibu’s impeachment followed the adoption of a report of an an investigative panel which indicted him of corruption, abuse of office, and financial embezzlement to the tune of N9, million Naira.

Speaking shortly after the plenary of the senate of the association, Comrade Aliyu Ismail, the Senate President said the house members were unanimous in adopting the recommendations of the investigative panel that indicted Abdulrahman’s leadership.

Aliyu said the panel further recommended that the booted national President should be investigated by the security agencies.

The panel also urged the former President to surrender all documents and properties belonging to the association.

Responding, the national president of the union, Abdulrahman Shuaibu described the allegations against him as baseless, saying he was not giving fear hearing on the issue.

He said he remains the substantive President of the union, saying Comrade Aliyu Ismail who addressed himself as the Senate President is no longer a student of any institution. Comrade Shuaibu said some external forces outside the union were behind today’s protest against him.
