The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council, has hailed the state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his commitment to completing the NUJ secretariat building.
The council lauded the State Government for creating an enabling environment that allows journalists to practice their profession without hindrance.
This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the Council’s meeting presided over by the State Council Chairman, Faruk Mu’azu Gombe.
The congress expressed satisfaction with the complete digitization of the Gombe Media Corporation‘s (GMC) radio and television stations under Governor Yahaya’s leadership.
It noted that the move is part of a broader transformation sweeping across critical sectors such as education, health, agriculture, security, environment, water provision, road construction, civil service, and social services.
The Union further commended Mallam Ibrahim Isah, the Director-General of GMC, whose leadership has ensured the installation of state-of-the-art equipment in the stations. These upgrades now allow GMC broadcasts to be accessible via satellite, enhancing their reach and impact.
The council reaffirmed its loyalty and confidence in Comrade Alhassan Yahya, the current president of the NUJ. Members also celebrated the historic achievement of electing the first-ever NUJ president from the Northeast sub-region, with Gombe State leading the charge.
The Gombe NUJ announced that as part of Comrade Yahya’s victory at the 8th Triennial Delegates Conference, the congress resolved to organize a grand reception in his honor scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Gombe.
The NUJ reminded members of the need to pay their check-off dues and professional fees between January and June 2025 as it is part of their obligation.
