Oil will not destroy our ties—Bauchi gov tells Gombe law makers

Bauchi state governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed said the discovery of oil in Alkaleri LGA which borders Gombe state from the east will not alter the existing relations between the two neighbors.

Governor Bala who was speaking when he received in audience, Members of the Gombe State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Abubakar Sadiq Kurba who visited him at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi, said oil should not cause friction between Bauchi and Gombe.

LEADERSHIP had on January 31 reported how Gombe State deputy governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, sought for demarcation as means of resolving the border dispute between the two stats.

The recent discovery of oil in Alkaleri had elicited controversy, as the two states reportedly lay claims of ownership of the oils wells.

Governor Bala who reiterated the commitment of the state to foster good working relationship with Gombe thanked the lawmakers for paying him solidarity visits following the Supreme Court judgemenet.

Bala noted with satisfaction, the process so far made by Gombe state in the areas of infrastructural development.

The Speaker, Abubakar Sadiq Kurba who led the delegation, said the visit is to congratulate Governor Bala Mohammed on his recent victory at the Supreme Court.
