Osun: Adeleke, Oyetola Know Fates Today As Court Delivers Judgement

Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor and former governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola will today Friday, March 24, know their fortunes as the Appeal Court in Abuja is set to deliver judgment on the governorship election held in the state on July 16 2022.

The battle for the disputed election followed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) claiming electoral irregularities on the part of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the election that brought in Adeleke.

The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo had earlier frowned on the election that brought Adeleke on the ground of over-voting.

However, Adeleke appealed the judgement of the Tribunal that ruled in favour of Oyetola by filing 31 grounds of appeal, praying to the Appeal Court for an order setting aside the whole decision of the tribunal.

A three-member panel of justices headed by Justice Mohammed Lawal Shuaibu on March 14, reserved the appeal for judgement and fixed today for its ruling after the arguments of both incumbent Governor Adeleke’s lawyers and those of former governor Oyetola.
