‘Over 10,000 Displaced in Niger Flood’

Flood has submerged Tunga, an outskirt of Minna, the capital of Niger State where over 10,000 locals have been reportedly displaced.

According to Tracka, a public project monitoring platform, the community was victimised during the last ravaging flood in September. The locals, WikkiTimes learnt are thrown into hunger amid the government’s neglect.

“This is Tunga community, a neighbouring settlement to the state capital Minna, Niger State,” Tracka tweeted. “The entire community has been submerged by the recent flood that happened in September 2022..”

“Over 10,000 residents have been displaced from the community” it added.

The organisation further called on the Niger State government and other relevant agencies to come to the aid of the community.

Recently, the United States authority announced that it will support flood-ravaged communities in Nigeria, considering the magnitude of flooding this year and the present economic crisis bedevilling the country.
