PDP wins Zaki, Gamawa Federal Constituencies’ re -run election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has won the Saturday re-run election that was held in Zaki and Gamawa federal constituencies of Bauchi state.

Honorables Auwal Jatau and Ahmad Madaki Gololo were declared winners of Saturday’s Zaki and Gamawa Federal Constituencies’ re-run election respectively.

The Returning officer for the re-run election in Zaki, Professor Ahmed Kutama while declaring the result said Auwal Jatau got a total number of 15,405 votes to defeat his closest rival Umar Tata of the All Progressives Congress  (APC) who polled 15,307 votes.

WikkiTimes correspondent gathered that Honourable Auwal Jatau is currently serving as the Commissioner of health in Bauchi state.

In Gamawa federal constituency, Ahmad Madaki Gololo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was returned elected.

The returning officer for the constituency Dr. Abubakar Mohammed from Federal University, Dutse said that Madaki Gololo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP polled 21,223 votes to defeat his closest contender, Isa Mohammad Wabu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with 15,004 votes.

Recall that the country’s Court of Appeal, Jos Division had on November 14, 2019, sacked the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker, Hon. Umar Tata, representing Zaki Federal Constituency on certificate forgery.

The same court had voided the election victory of Garba Gololo of the All Progressives Congress representing Gamawa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, ordering Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct re-run election in the area within 90 days.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ibrahim Abdullahi had yesterday after monitoring the exercise described the re-run election for Gamawa and Zaki federal constituencies as peaceful.

Abdullahi who was addressing journalists on the exercise said there was significant improvement compared to 2019.

WikkiTimes recalled that there were cases of card readers’ failure, alleged cases of vote buying in some wards during the Bauchi rerun elections for Gamawa and Zaki federal constituencies.

But the resident electoral commissioner said he was not aware of the allegations.
