PDP’s Bala Mohammed wins Bauchi Guber polls

A former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate has been declared winner of the 2019 governorship election in Buchi state.

The election was announced at wee hours on Monday after collating results of the supplementary election held last Saturday in 36 polling units in 15 local government areas of the state and that of Tafawa Balewa local government that was earlier withheld following a court order.

Announcing the winner Monday night at about 11: 18pm, the state returning officer Professor Mohammed Kyari said the PDP candidate defeated his closest opponent of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and incumbent Governor of the state Mohammed Abubakar having polled 515, 113 against Abubakar’s 500, 625.

Other candidates that participated in the election were Ali Pate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) who scored 46, 326 votes, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Shuaibu Ahmed who got 33, 339 votes and Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) Mohammed Jumba who scored votes 23, 000 votes respectively.

Kyari said 31 candidates participated in the election saying Bala Mohammed of the PDP having scored the highest votes is the winner of the election.
