Pioneer FCT Chief Judge who annulled June 12, dies at 83

A Pioneer Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Muhammad Dahiru Saleh, Matawallen Katagum who annulled the controversial June 12 election is dead, aged 83.

A family relation to the deceased, Zakiyyu Abubakar confirmed the death of the former Chief Judge to WikkiTimes on telephone.

Zakiyyu said the former Chief Judge died after a brief illness, saying, “he was suffering from diabetes and he died at about 2pm today at the Federal Medical Centre Azare”.

“He has been ill for sometimes and when he took fast for about 4 days, it exacerbated the sickness, so he had to drop the fasting”, Zakiyyu said.

He said due to the Coronavirus pandemic in Bauchi State, the former Chief Judge hesitated to be hospitalized, until his conditions deteriorated.

“he was reluctant to be admitted at the Hospital, instead doctors where taken care of him at home, after his conditions went out of hand, he was admitted at the hospital where he succumbed to death”, Zakiyyu told WikkiTimes.

The deceased Judge is the younger brother to late Aminu Saleh, a former Finance Minister during the military juntas.

Muhammad Dahiru Saleh is survived by one wife, 10 children and many grand children.

He was buried at his home town of Azare on Thursday according to Islmaic rites.
